Rare Harvest Blood SuperMoon

This Tuesday September 17th will kick off a rare lunar trifecta!

The Full Moon in September 2024 is not just any Full Moon—it’s the Harvest Moon Supermoon, accompanied by a partial lunar eclipse, making it a rare Harvest Blood Supermoon. The Harvest Moon is the Full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox, marking a time of harvest, abundance, and preparation for the colder months. This Supermoon appears larger and brighter in the sky, amplifying its energetic impact, while the partial lunar eclipse brings an element of transformation and change.

As the full moon closest to the autumn equinox, this moon is known as the “Harvest moon.” It will also be a “supermoon”, orbiting slightly closer to Earth, making the moon appear larger. And if that weren’t enough, it’s also a partial lunar eclipse making it appear red which is called a “blood moon”.

None of the individual components are rare. The harvest moon happens every year, the supermoon happens 3-4 times a year, and the blood moon occurs a few times a year. However, having all three events line up all at once is rare. The next time it will occur is 2033 and then again in 2042, so don’t miss this rare opportunity.

The full moon and lunar eclipse will begin Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The best time to witness this will be Tuesday night starting at 10:00 and will end after 1 am.

As we transition into autumn, September 2024 offers celestial events that invite us to reflect, release, and prepare for new beginnings. This month, we experience the New Moon in Virgo on September 2 and the Harvest Blood Supermoon on September 17, which also features a partial lunar eclipse. These events create powerful opportunities for ritual, transformation, and connection with lunar energy.

September 2024 is a powerful month for spiritual growth and transformation, thanks to the Virgo New Moon and the Harvest Moon Supermoon with its partial lunar eclipse. Whether you’re setting intentions or releasing old patterns, these lunar events offer opportunities for deep personal reflection and renewal.

A very rare occurrence, the first time in 40 years, the rare Harvest Blood Supermoon will light up the night. Eclipses represent an opening portal to a new and higher state of consciousness, which can lead to a to a stir in our emotions. During a Lunar eclipse, a path is often cleared for us and there is a theme of release as we are guided to let go of things that we have outgrown. A blood moon occurs when the Earth blocks the sun from fully lighting the moon, causing the moon to appear red. This happens during a partial or complete lunar eclipse.

This Pisces influence on the full moon makes it very intuitive, very expansive, and very dreamy. Definitely expect some emotions and tears, as it will be filled with letting go in order to make space for what’s to come. Pisces’ influence on this moon may also heighten our dreams, our spirituality, and our sensitivity in general. And with the planet of love in relationship-minded Libra, we may have realizations around our most intimate connections. It’s calling into focus your spiritually aligned connections, taking a look at illusions and missteps—especially around relationships—that you may need to get clear on.

This full moon starts a two-week period or portal between this lunar eclipse and the solar eclipse that will fall on the new moon in two weeks. So it’s a potent time, but it’s not meant for manifesting, it’s more focused on surrendering and releasing to the universe’s natural flow and the destined yet unexpected events in store for us.

Ritual Bath Soak

Since this moon is in water sign Pisces, it is the ideal time for drawing a ritual moon bath to connect to the element of water—and your own emotions. You can make your own or grab our all in one ritual bath soak and a full moon candle and/or a ritual candle meditate on your emotions and intuition. The focus is alchemizing and healing through the element of water.

The full moon tends to mark an accumulation of energies—both light and dark. This makes the Harvest Moon a perfect time to cleanse your space energetically to remove or let go of any built-up negative vibes, renewing your surroundings with fresh energy.

Pisces being the ruling sign this year and being associated with the feet this is an ideal time for a relaxing foot bath and—if you’re feeling glamorous—a pedicure, how about a foot massage! PUT YOUR FEET UP! A Pisces full Moon only happens once a year, so indulge! Remember: self-care is important and not selfish.

  • Ground Yourself: The time leading up to a full Moon can often make people moody, sensitive, and fatigued. It is helpful to use this time to pause and ask yourself how you are feeling physically and mentally? How are your relationships and career? Being in tune with your feelings will help you stay grounded and help you efficiently make positive changes. The full Moon is the perfect time to look inward and recalibrate.
  • Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors, basking in the moonlight and connecting with the Earth’s natural rhythms. Take a moment to stop and smell the roses—literally. Watch the trees as they sway in the breeze and breathe fresh air. If you live near water, go to it and watch it flow. Time spent in nature has a healing effect

  • Charge Your Crystals: Harness the power of crystals believed to be amplified under the full Moon’s light. After you’ve cleansed and charged your crystals, it’s time to program them with your intention. Hold your crystals with love as you set your intentions for the month. Simply quiet your mind, focus on your intention and let that energy radiate into the gem. Be as clear and as specific as possible. When we program our crystals, they can help us on a highly intuitive level.
  • Moonlight Bathing vs. Moon Showers: While both practices involve soaking under the moonlight, there’s a subtle difference. Traditionally, Moon showers involve bathing outdoors under the full Moon’s light, often seen as a deeply cleansing and emotionally balancing experience. A relaxing full Moon bath with essential oils or calming herbs may achieve similar results!
