Auricular Therapy or Ear Seeds
Auricular Therapy, or ear seeds is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem of the entire body represented on the auricle, the outer portion of the ear. Ailments of the entire body are treatable by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively.
Ear Seeds can be used for many different disorders and is most commonly used as an adjunct therapy when treating pain, smoking cessation and weight loss.
Like acupressure, this is a holistic approach to healing, an approach that treats the whole person. The acupressure points located on the ear help to regulate the body’s internal organs, structures and functions. Auricular therapy stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s own ‘feel good’ chemicals. It has a high success rate for migraine, hay fever ailments, smoking cessation and pain relief.

How Ear Seeds Work
Auricular Therapy works by stimulating the central nervous system through the cranial and spinal nerves via the auricle of the ear. This stimulation results in neurotransmitters modulating the pain and/or the nerve function to begin the healing process within the body or to that body part
Seeds are placed on precise points of the ear depending on the individual ailment. They stay in place by a small adhesive tape. They stay in place for up to five days.
During the five days you will be told to massage them gently. Do this three times each day and when you have symptoms. Apply pressure by rubbing the seeds with a circular motion for one to three minutes.
The seeds are removed after five days and new ones are placed on the backside of the ear and the process is repeated.

“I’ve done acupressure, and I believe in it. That’s the first place I go if I’m having any particular pain anywhere.”
